From later in his career, another of Chubby’s original hits. The Limbo was all the rage in the early 60s! “Limbo Rock”

From innocence to hard core blues, here's Stevie Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) in live performances doing several of his best! First, live from Montreux 1985, "Pride and Joy."

From there we go to "Texas Flood," followed by a great display of his "sharp as a knife" guitar licks on the Arsenio Hall Show in 1989 blistering out "Crossfire."

Here’s a great live version from Live at "Night Music", Los Angeles CA 1989 of SRV cranking out “Crossfire”

We'll close Stevie's segment with his tribute to the guitar Master Himself! Here's Stevie Ray Vaughan live doing a fantastic homage of “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)”

From 1987 in Tennessee, here’s another smoking performance of “Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)”

And for those who just can’t get enough, here’s a 93 minute live concert of Stevie and Double Trouble! For your enjoyment, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Live At Montreux

Eddie Cochran (October 3, 1938–April 17, 1960) was an American rock and roll pioneer whose career was way too short given his huge influence on rock music. His songs, especially "Summertime Blues," have been covered by thousands of bands, some of them the biggest in history. He “lived fast, died young, and made a good lookin’ corpse,” as it used to be said.

First, some great live film footage of Eddie in 1958 performing the iconic “Summertime Blues” (As a special treat, here's the classic performance by the Who at Monterrey Pop in 1967 of "Summertime Blues")

Here’s an amazing classic one hour live performance film created way back when! It features Eddie and his best friend Gene Vincent of “Be Bop A Lula” fame, cranking out that legendary early rock and roll classic. “Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran – Legends in Concert

From the movie “The Girl Can’t Help It,” here’s some great color footage of Eddie live doing his smash hit “Twenty Flight Rock” (this was the song Paul sang to John that got Paul accepted as a member of the Quarrymen.)

Workin’ the rockabilly formula, here’s Eddie in another live clip performing his hit “C’mon, Everybody”

From 1959, Eddie performing the Chuck Berry classic “Hail Hail Rock and Roll”

Also in 1959, here’s a great live performance of “Teenage Heaven”

Here’s live footage of Eddie doing a slow one in February 1959, “Have I Told You Lately that I Love You” From the same gig, “Money Honey”

Lindsey Buckingham (October 3, 1949) was THE guitar in the mid-70s to early 80s version of Fleetwood Mac. This guy plays breathtaking guitar, and I found some great live performances!

Here’s Lindsey and Fleetwood Mac live in Japan 1977 performing a tune he wrote to kick off the 1975 eponymous Fleetwood Mac album, “Monday Morning”

From April 1976 on the Midnight Special tv show, Fleetwood Mac live doing another LB tune he wrote with Stevie, “World Turning”

From the album Rumors, here’s a LB tune that kicked off that album! The video is lousy, but the sound is great! From 1978, Fleetwood Mac live cranking out “Second Hand News”

From 2009 in Pittsburgh, Fleetwood Mac in a great live video of “Second Hand News”

From 1977, live in Japan, Lindsey and the band offering up a great version of his song, “Never Going Back Again”

Here’s Lindsey and Stevie in an acoustic duet of “Never Going Back Again."

From Letterman, here they are again in 1998 doing "Landslide" and "Big Love"

In another acoustic gem from 2006, here's Lindsey live in Milwaukee doing "Trouble." From the same show, "Go Insane."

Live in 2008 at Bass Hall, “Big Love” and “Go Insane”

From here we go highly electric! Lindsey and his band in NY 2008 doing his signature tune, "Go Your Own Way." From the same show, another of his great tunes from his Fleetwood Mac days, "I'm So Afraid."

Here's Lindsey smoking with Fleetwood Mac! First, a 9+ minute awesome performance in Pittsburgh in 2009 by the band of “I’m So Afraid.” From that same year, this time in Paris, here’s another 9+ minute performance of “I’m So Afraid.” (his guitar work at times made my jaw drop!)

And lastly, from their live 1997 video "The Dance," here they are again doing "I'm So Afraid."

We'll close Lindsey's birthday tribute with his signature song! Here's da man with Fleetwood Mac in "The Dance" performing the incredible "Go Your Own Way." His guitar work is magical!!

*********

For those who have been on a Moon of Neptune these past 12 years, India.Arie (October 3, 1975) is a Grammy Award-winning American neo-soul and R&B musician, songwriter, and producer. I couldn't find many live performances, but I did find a couple, along with original music videos of her better-known hits.

The music video of "Video"

The music video of "Little Things."

I found a live acoustic Live at VH1 performance of India.Arie doing her hit "I Am Not My Hair." Here's the original music video of "I Am Not My Hair."

From the same VH1 performance, here she is doing "Ready For Love."

We'll close this segment with India.Arie performing live in the studio doing the beautiful "Beautiful Flower."

*********

And now, last but never least, the great Gwen Stefani (October 3, 1969)! She began as the frontwoman for the ska technopop group No Doubt, and has split her time between the band and solo careers as a performer and fashion designer. For her birthday tribute, I couldn't find much live material, but quite a few music videos.

Here's Gwen and No Doubt in the music video of their mega-hit "Spiderwebs."

The music video of No Doubt doing "It's My Life."

The music video of No Doubt doing "Just A Girl."

The music video of No Doubt doing "Hey Baby."

The music video of No Doubt doing "Simple Kind of Life."

The music video of No Doubt doing "Don't Speak."

From her solo career in 2004-08, the music video of her major hit "Hollaback Girl."

The music video of "Wind It Up."

Here's the music video of her last solo hit, "The Sweet Escape."

So from the original Twister through a tragic blues guitar hero to an equally tragic rock and roll pioneer, from a guitar flashmaster through the voice of neo-soul to ska-influenced technopop, we have had some great talents born on October 3. If you're inclined, please go back over to you tube and enjoy whatever you like of these amazing Libra mega-talents. In any case, a big Happy and Merry Birthday to all of these first rate performers!

ps – Also send up a big Happy Birthday to Gore Vidal, born 3 Oct 1925, and the Mickey Mouse Club, "born" Oct 3, 1955. That show mattered if you were a kid back then. Also a highest respects and appreciation, very special Happy goes out to the great Western Arhat, Master of the Qabalah Paul Foster Case, born at 5:28 p.m., October 3, 1884 in Fairport, New York.

Yes, today would have been the 125th birthday of Dr. Marc Edmund Jones, Master Astrologer who gave the world the Sabian Symbols, the Jones Patterns, the Sabian Assembly, and a whole lot more!

I had the rare privilege of meeting Dr. Marc Edmund Jones (born 8:37 am in St. Louis, October 1, 1888–March 5, 1980) on several occasions near the end of his long and distinguished life. He was brilliant to the end, no nonsense in his approach to astrology, and no nonsense when it came to what he thought WE should and should not be doing and saying! Charming, but blunt and to the point. He had to be one of the tersest Libras I’ve ever met!

Happy Birthday 2013 to One of the Greatest Beings Ever to Walk the Earth, Mahatma Gandhi

Every year we offer a huge Happy Birthday to a couple of the greatest who were both born on October 2. This year I’ve gathered so many memorable quotes from each that I’ve had to split the birthday celebrations. Groucho was first, and now it’s the Mahatma’s turn!

As I told you at the Groucho celebration, in one of history’s great ironies, the "great Spirit," aka "Mahatma" Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948), and the great wit Groucho Marx (October 2, 1890 – August 19, 1977) are both Libras born on October 2! Even though they were born 21 years and worlds apart, they had some important astrological similarities.

As I noted in the Groucho birthday post, both had very sharp wits, both punctured imperialists and fascist thinking at every turn, and each had an amazing sense of humor. Neither of them had much use for authoritarians or Fascists of any stripe, and it's interesting to me that they each influenced millions during the same era.

This was truly a remarkable duo who changed the world forever, each in their own way. I suppose great Souls incarnate to answer the need of their times. This is a perfect example of the illumination power of the ridiculous and the sublime existing as one.

He was one of the greatest to ever walk among us, a human who claimed his "god self" and became one of the best of all time. Gandhi was a truly remarkable man for the Ages, and showed the way to the High Road regardless of local circumstances. No less than Einstein had this to say about Gandhi:

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest minds humanity has produced, once said of Gandhi that "Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this walked the earth in flesh and blood." One of the most effective politicians in history, he demonstrated the practical truth that the way of applied Soul force using non-violent techniques is the most powerful political tool we have.

As I’ve noted before, though many think of him as a caricature of a kindly old man, or a hopelessly naive advocate for a non-violence believed impossible to achieve, Mohandas Gandhi, a.k.a. "the Mahatma" (Great Spirit) gave us all the only sane technique for restoring peace in our ridiculously divided and aggressive world. Today we take a new look at some of his great quotes, among them: "Gandhi was once asked what he thought about western civilization. His response was: 'I think it would be a good idea.'”

Gotta love anyone with that sense of humor. Today we have quite a few of his more memorable quotes that will serve as grist for the mill of your Soul, and the Soul of humanity and our world. Enjoy, and send up a moment of appreciation to one of the most remarkable men ever to walk this Earth.

Gandhi's 7 Deadly Social Sins: Wealth without Work, Pleasure without Conscience, Science without Humanity, Knowledge without Character, Politics without Principle, Commerce without Morality, Worship without Sacrifice

Democracy and violence can ill go together. Evolution of democracy is not possible if we are not prepared to hear the other side.

Hatred ever kills, love never dies; such is the vast difference between the two. What is obtained by love is retained for all time. What is obtained by hatred proves a burden in reality for it increases hatred.

You assist an evil system most effectively by obeying its orders and decrees. An evil system never deserves such allegiance. Allegiance to it means partaking of the evil. A good person will resist an evil system with his or her whole soul.

Nonviolence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.

Whether humanity will consciously follow the law of love, I do not know. But that need not disturb me. The law will work just as the law of gravitation works, whether we accept it or not. The person who discovered the law of love was a far greater scientist than any of our modern scientists. Only our explorations have not gone far enough and so it is not possible for everyone to see all its workings.

However much I may sympathize with and admire worthy motives, I am an uncompromising opponent of violent methods even to serve the noblest of causes.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.

Nonviolence and cowardice are contradictory terms. Nonviolence is the greatest virtue, cowardice the greatest vice. Nonviolence springs from love, cowardice from hate. Nonviolence always suffers, cowardice would always inflict suffering. Perfect nonviolence is the highest bravery. Nonviolent conduct is never demoralizing, cowardice always is.

Every murder or other injury, no matter for what cause, committed or inflicted on another is a crime against humanity.

Man's nature is not essentially evil. Brute nature has been known to yield to the influence of love. You must never despair of human nature.

It is the law of love that rules mankind. Had violence, i.e. hate, ruled us we should have become extinct long ago. And yet, the tragedy of it is that the so-called civilized men and nations conduct themselves as if the basis of society was violence.

Faith... must be enforced by reason... when faith becomes blind it dies.

And because it is one of my all-time favorites, here it is again:

Gandhi was once asked what he thought about western civilization. His response was: "I think it would be a good idea."

Here are three more posts with the Mahatma's wisdom:

Aum and blessings to you, Mahatma. May your Soul's message to us all grow stronger with each day that passes.

In case you missed this in the recent Steve Douglas birthday tribute, he worked with Lucky for a few years, and they mined some gems. For your dancing pleasure, we now go to Lucky’s autobiographical tale of his life and career, one of all-time personal favorites! Classic Dylan, Classic Douglas! "Changing of the guards"

Ole’ Boo teamed up with Steve and took it to the road, and it all came down in Budokan! Our next dance is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written, and this live performance is extraordinarily danceable. Steve’s flute work should make your feet fly! "Love Minus Zero/No Limit"

We now go reggae at Budokan, mon! Time to move slow and easy as this iconic groove reminds us that sometimes we’re “walkin’ down that long, lonesome road, where I’m bound, I can’t tell…” When things have changed, "Don't Think Twice It's Alright"

Movin’ into a totally different happy feet, toe tapping dance groove that’s irresistible, here’s Eric Clapton and Zimmie live at the 1999 benefit for the Crossroads performing “(Don’t Think Twice) It’s All Right”

This one’s attitude cuts it loose! We’re dancing back to Budokan for a last listen since we’re “not going to work on Maggie’s farm no more!” “Maggie’s Farm”

For our next dance, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen cranking it up in a live 11+ minute video performance of two of my favorites! Time to stomp it to the first, since “There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke, But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate, So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late." No one talks falsely when they're dancing. The second in this two-fer is one of the most beautiful songs ever created. From their performance at the 1995 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, “All Along the Watchtower” and “Forever Young.”

For an interesting penultimate performance, we’ll go back to our Saturday Night Attitude tune. Here’s the brilliant guitar work of Mark Knopfler backing Bob Dylan, whose voice is a mix of gravel, growling, and rap! “Things Have Changed”

We’ll close this dance with the original music video of our Saturday Night Attitude tune, affirming we’ll stay “Forever Young,” even though “People are crazy and times are strange, I'm locked in tight, I'm outta range, I used to care, but things have changed....” “Things Have Changed”

Things Have Changed

I'm a worried man, got a worried mind
No one in front of me, no one behind
There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne

Got white skin, got assassins eyes
I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies
I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train

Standin' on the gallows with my head in a noose
Any minute now I'm expectin' all hell to break loose

People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm outta range
I used to care, but things have changed

This place ain't doing me any good
I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood
Just for a second there I thought I saw something move

Gonna take dancing lessons, do the jitterbug rag
Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag
Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove

Lot of water under the bridge, lot of other stuff too
Don't get up gentlemen, I'm only passing through

People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

I've been walking forty miles of bad road
If the Bible is right, the world will explode
I've been trying to get as far away from myself as I can

Some things are too hot to touch
The human mind can only stand so much
You can't win with a losin' hand

Feel like fallin' in love with the first woman I meet
Puttin' her in a wheel barrow and wheelin' her down the street

People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed

I hurt easy, I just don't show it
You can hurt someone and not even know it
The next sixty seconds could be like an eternity

Gonna get low down, gonna fly high
All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie
I'm in love with a woman that don't even appeal to me

Mr. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake
I'm not that eager, not that eager to make a mistake

People are crazy, times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm outta range
I used to care, but things have changed

We'll close with some sage words from the Bard: "From the fool’s gold mouthpiece the hollow horn, Plays wasted words, proves to warn, That he not busy being born is busy dying..."

How Can We Know Success From Failure, and How Much Control Do We Have Over Life?

Often it’s hard to distinguish success from failure. When things are ending, it’s natural to feel that some things didn’t work out as we hoped they would. This can show us the way to future successes, if we’re open to seeing what is with new eyes and an open heart and mind.

I wrote some of this over 5 years ago, and rewrote it about a year ago with the title “Can Astrology Predict Success and Failure? Is It Fate or Free Will?” I’m reprinting it now with some important additions because it seems that many have hit the ending of major life chapters, and are now forced to turn to the new, whether they want to or not.

This article has some very important and valuable information for all who are figuring out what they can and cannot do, given the limitations in the natal chart and the transits that seem to be beyond our control. So can any of our changes be predicted with Astrology? How does Astrology work at the intersections of fate and free will?

Today we’ll we take a new look at the benefits and limitations of good timing, and what part our own actions play in the results we get from our efforts. I’ll begin by stating that while the timing of life-altering events is built into our chart, we forever have the ability to choose our responses to what we confront. That alone gives us the power to turn past defeats into future victories, and move from the unreal to the real, from darkness to light, and from death to immortality.

In Astrology, the totality of the planets show us the larger gestalt of the moment. By the angular relationships of the planets to each other across their time-structured cycles, we see evolving patterns between various parts of our existence. As these continue their eternal shape-shifting, they indicate times to build, times to break down, times to act, and times to hold back.

Throughout our lives, we're either cooperating or not cooperating with the patterns of the moment. To be clear, our cooperation with Divine Patterns of evolution does not mean things will inevitably turn out the way we want, nor does it mean we necessarily get an easy ride or a pass on a necessary life lesson.

Also just because something seems to fail shouldn't lead us to believe we were necessarily out of alignment with our Higher Purpose. Remember, we often learn as much if not more through our apparent failures, since in our striving we had opportunities to bring forth imagination and perseverance, two Eternal qualities of our Higher Self.

One misconception about Astrology is that many believe that because our birth chart shows it's a "good" time or "bad" time for something, then we are powerless to change the course of events and must accept the inevitable "good" or "bad" that is supposed to follow. This of course ignores the fundamental fact that we alone manifest our lives through the consequences of our actions and inactions.

Early in my quest to know what Astrology is and is not, I found an immortal quote from The Bard related to some timeless wisdom: "The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in our stars, but in ourselves if we are underlings." This would imply that Astrology's dictum for many thousands of years, "As Above So Below," should be seen as pointing us to patterns so we may take responsibility for the causes and effects we experience this life.

It is our responsibility to learn Divine discrimination so we know when to act as we should and not act as we shouldn't. It is in our actions or non-actions, and whether these are in our best interests and can really get our intention accomplished, that determines much of what happens in our lives. Of course, not all intentions should be fulfilled, and in the defeats that lead us to turn to higher things, we ultimately fulfill our highest intentions, which may not look anything like what our ego desires.

Our stars, whether natal, progressed, transits, or return charts done for specific places, cannot make anything happen of themselves, nor can any Astrological, Tarot, psychic, or "spiritual" self-help reading make a thing happen or not happen. We humans are the ones who anchor energies in action, or not. I offer a brief explanation about why planets do not cause anything in my book "A New Look At Mercury Retrograde:"

Even if we use astrology, we still live our own lives and make our own choices. Invariably, we are either acting, not acting, or being acted upon. Planetary configurations are relevant to us in our chosen field of activity, in our life energies, and the varying circumstances that influence us. An astrological configuration cannot make us act appropriately, or solve a problem in and of itself. Many configurations completely pass us by, with the "good ones" not magically bringing expected good nor the "bad ones" visiting disaster upon us. Any configuration only manifests to the degree we are living life, and not merely being spectators waiting for something to happen.

No matter how great the aspects in our chart are, if we are limited by inner or outer factors we cannot achieve the best use of those aspects. There are limits in Nature, just as there are limits in human disposition, resources, or conditions.

If we avoid looking at key limitations and choose to push forward with something, or fail to follow through at critical moments due to fear, attachment, or buying into illusions, then we will experience failure. These teach us to accept or get beyond those limitations, and not blame circumstances or someone else for our failure.

While sometimes things seem to turn around "magically," usually the "success" or "failure" of something involves several factors, among them circumstances, effort, and timing. If these are not correct, then usually we don't achieve the desired results. The last two are within our control, while the first usually isn't. And if the circumstances are not correct, then no amount of effort or right astrological timing will make our project succeed.

"Real world" circumstances influence our choices to act or not act in our best interests, and while we don't control the circumstances, we always control our responses to those circumstances. Some circumstances do not permit "success" as we envision it, and even when they do, if we don't do the right things in the right ways and times, we cannot succeed.

For example, we cannot drive two thousand miles with only $20 for gas (unless we have revolutionary technology!) We cannot catch trout in a bass pond, nor can we plant potatoes in great soil with the Moon in a fertile sign and get a crop when there is snow on the ground. We cannot sell products to people who want to buy something else, or make someone "do the right thing."

We cannot make someone else want to be in a healthy relationship with us if they don't want that. And while we can pray for some things, affirming our willingness to receive them and/or "be attracted to them," we cannot make them come or find fulfillment in that which isn't true for us. Some things are beyond our control.

That brings up a key point. If we visualize a desired end clearly, have the skills and resources that must be used to that end, start it at the right time in the right way, and persevere in doing what we must to achieve the result, then usually we get some measure of success. HOWEVER! If in doing that effort we violate one critical factor, then no matter what, our efforts will never succeed in the way we would like.

Regardless of what we believe is good or desired, we must not violate our integrity and what we're here to learn and Be, or at some point our "truth of being," or karma, or guardian angel, or another Spiritual component in our lives will put a stick in our spokes to keep us from error. Something about "leave us not in temptation" comes to mind. Spirit has many ways and means to redirect us from erroneous aim, whether we think we are in error or not.

If our desires are pulling us away from what we are to learn about selfless service this life, then at some point our desires will be frustrated or wrecked altogether. We can effort mightily toward some end, but if it's a) fundamentally not true for us, or b) is leading us away from our best and Highest Self and purpose for being on Earth, or c) the "failure" is part of our higher path of Self-realization, then our efforts cannot bring us the success we hope for. This helps us learn detachment, dispassion, and discrimination.

When our best efforts have failed, it's important to do reflective work using objectivity and compassion to understand if we were in error, and if possible make appropriate corrections. Of course, usually when we get the lesson we realize those specific conditions will never occur again, and must find a larger application for the truth contained in that lesson.

All fault-finding around "failure" concerning circumstances or any other external thing, even if these were involved in what did or didn't happen, is unhelpful unless we see the "fault" as an error in judgment that needs correcting. Here I feel taking the view that our entire human experience is a series of "experiments in Truth" can help us find a measure of objectivity and dispassion.

Ultimately, our human experience is all about our responsibility to act or not act appropriately, and see what constitutes "right view," "right effort," "right action," and "right realization." We learn about these across many lifetimes, and learn how to master ways to express these through life experiences and accomplishments demonstrating our purpose on Earth.

Of course, compassion also dictates that we remember the hard human truth that even if we do everything correctly, "sometimes the answer is no." A crop failure may not come from our specific actions or inactions, but it's always important to take responsibility for whatever part we did play in the larger event, and if we "failed," examine how we can become better people for the experience.

Our willingness to find appropriate ways to rise to our challenges determines how the outcome of those challenges affects our lives. How we respond determines future possibilities of succeeding in fulfilling our purpose.

Sometimes just rising to the occasion brings forth our better Self, whether we "succeed" or "fail" at whatever. An apparent defeat today can bring forth skills and understandings that could be an important key to future successes.

I'll close this brief essay on our responsibility to drive our own boat and not blame externals for our apparent worldly failures and frustrations with a reminder from The Three Truths: "Each man is his own absolute law-giver, the dispenser of glory or gloom to himself; the decreer of his life, his reward, his punishment." Something to consider as we find ourselves at the intersections of Fate Street and Free Will Street as we move and groove down Eternity Boulevard.

If you want more insights into what you’ve just read, you may want to take a look (or new look) at "What Is Astrology" since it explains some fundamental concepts related to where we've gone today.

am and have been in poverty for several years and without my own place to house my home since the end of October 2011 after many years of working hard to heal myself and the affect the unnatural me and the healing of that had on my children, working through it step by step, each one of them in life threatening phases of experience in differing ways during the course of those years. Even though to others it looks like i am a failure and even though I very much yearn for that place for my loved ones to pass through or stay even as they need and hope that will be as I have recognised how much faith I have that it is now possible for me to be where I belong. Myself and my children (now young adults) have survived and learned alot about ourselves, our strengths and they have absorbed at least some of what I have offered to them about my depth of understanding of alchemy, transpersonal psyche, metaphysics and quantum physics no matter how weird they thought me to be or how much they hid that from the outside world and its judgments. I feel clear mentally and mostly clean emotionally and successful, so very successful far more than I look to others to be, that I have given my best to lay good strong intangible foundations for each of us to build a good life on now, as we create the opportunities to make it so. I am eccentric or weird as others may say, yet I find a lot of joy being the "weird" me these days, something I never and I mean never other than the blessed arrival of my children, felt in this life before.

So I truly get what you are conveying here Robert and success takes all shapes and forms for each individual, its about not getting caught up with how it looks or the fear of how others may see it, its about how one feels and thinks about ones own gift of life to this world to me and as a mother I have loved my children, no matter what, into adulthood and although was not able to protect them from psychological infection, I was able to help them understand it and work through it and I hope this may help others to keep going, regardless of how it looks. Joy and love are not something one sees, they are what one feels and once the good feelings are there, the thoughts will trigger in accordance to those feelings and travel through the river bed in the mind to make it so.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my success :)

I never get hung up on transits, progressions and returns. There is no "Big Hand" in the sky making things happen in our lives. Its just a back drop of energies expressed from the universe, some are more sensitive to it than others but we all get influenced.
As an example: Its always fascinating to observe those who ridicule or are skeptical of astrology.
Without saying a word to this individual or group of people, just observe how they behave or carry on in there lives. Always I have seen them acting (once I know there sun sign or birth date and even without a birth date, there age can tell you a lot about subconscious motivations) in accordance with the general characteristics of the particular sun sign they are born under and the decade of birth (approximately speaking) Even the hard or challenging aspects operating in there lives at any given moment in time. This is quite an objective analysis to say the least, observing an entity without it knowing its being observed. Time and time again, I am constantly reminded of how connected we all are to the universe and its ever changing environment, weather we admit it or not. I'm constantly reminded of how the universe "guides" or even radically "pushes" us onward to growth, even if that seems at times to be experienced in a slow painful manner. No one gets away from "time" (symbolized by Saturn, traditionally speaking) at least not on this earth anyway.
However, in saying that, ones perception of success or failure is wholly dependent on individual values (which you are born with). With regards to how much control we have over life. That would depend entirely on the historical, political and cultural framework each individual is born into. That concept, has been expressed in many excellent astrology and re-incarnation books already.
You can't say for example, someone born in Australia today, has the same freedom of choices as someone born in say, 1930's Germany or even 1950's China or something. You get my drift.

Yes, and apparently other times as well.

It's an old tradition to balance eggs on the Equinoxes. Apparently it began in China centuries ago at the Spring (Vernal) Equinox as some sort of spring fertility ritual. I originally heard that it was specifically associated with the Autumnal Equinox, but couldn't find anything on line to support that as being a more important ritual time than Spring, even though some ancient cultures thought the year began in the Autumn rather than the Spring.

Anyway, after doing some research, I found that one can seemingly balance eggs on their ends any day of the year, and a) there's no "scientific" basis for Equinox-only egg balancing, b) some eggs cannot be balanced due to their shape, and c) successfully balancing eggs on end has more to do with the patience and disposition of the one balancing the egg than other factors. And with practice we are told it becomes easier!

So there you have it, loyal readers. We CAN balance an egg on its end today. And it seems most any other day as well, if the egg is shaped right and we have the patience.
