Yesterday, while following the echoes of my mind, I remembered a song. It turns out the composer's birthday was September 23, so I figured better a little late than never.

Fenton Robinson (September 23, 1935 - November 25, 1997) was a blues cat you probably never heard of, but he wrote one of the most performed blues songs ever done. For your consideration, the 12+ minute studio version of a tune made famous by the great Boz Scaggs back in 1969, accompanied by Duane "Sky Dog" Allman on blistering lead guitar and the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section,

"Somebody Loan Me A Dime." (It really begins to smoke about 7 1/2 minutes in, so check it out!)

I also found a great live performance by Boz doing "Somebody Loan Me a Dime."

Here's Fenton performing his signature tune live in Holland in 1984. For your enjoyment, a much more standard blues delivery of "Somebody Loan Me A Dime."

Thanks for the song, Fenton. It haunted my life for many years a long time ago. RIP.
